Confirmation

Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, is a sacrament of initiation. It unites us more firmly with Christ; increases in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit; binds us more closely to the Church; and gives us special strength to bear witness to our faith.

The sacrament will be received at Saint Peter Parish on a date in the spring arranged at the convenience of the Bishop. Students in the RREP program will receive the sacrament after at least two years of Religious instruction and not before the seventh grade. Students attending a Catholic school will receive the sacrament in the sixth grade. All students, whether attending RREP, Catholic or a Private Catholic Academy will receive the sacrament in their parish.

Sponsors for Confirmation:

Qualifications to be a sponsor at Confirmation:

• Be at least 16 years of age

• Be a practicing Catholic, having received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, and preferably not the candidate’s parents.

• If married, be validly married according to the laws of the Church

Letter of Eligibility:

Sponsors will need a letter of eligibility from their parish if they are not from the parish where Confirmation is being administered.
